This App is a Dinosaur

I’m a recent this app convert from Sam’s, and my wife and I did our first this app trip last week. The store was so much nicer, the people were so much friendlier, the selection of products was great... and then I ed the app. I’m shocked at how bad this app is for a company as big as this app. The app feels like it’s from 5+ years ago, it’s literally no comparison to the Sam’s app. It has no ability to tell you what products are in stock at a given store. There are tons of missing items, i.e. I’m in this app and I search the this app app for a product that’s sitting right in front of me on a shelf, and there’s zero trace of it in the app. There’s no Scan-and-Go functionality (where you can scan items on the app and pay without having to wait in line). The app literally just got the ability like 2 weeks ago to have an electronic version of your hip card so that you don’t have to carry your card with you to check out... Sam’s app had that years ago. I’m really disappointed in how bad this app is. Even though I really like the this app stores better, if it wasn’t for my wife strongly preferring shopping at this app over Sam’s, I’d switch back to Sam’s in a heartbeat just because of how bad this app is. Really hope they blow this app away and just start over.

I have hips to both this app and Sam’s. They both have strong and weak points. I love this app, I like how they treat their employees, their food court is fantastic, it’s cleaner and I generally prefer their product’s. In of this app, it’s behind in every way and completely useless to anyone who does want delivery. I’m going to guess that most do not want to overpay by about $3 per item to have things delivered. Most have a hip to save money. Comparing and contrasting, you cannot shop online and pickup yourself, you cannot scan as you shop and pay by your phone. You can’t even see what is at the club and see the correct price without a delivery markup. You can do all these things with the Sam’s app. Can this app do all these things if they wanted? Of Course! But it’s not in their strategy. I’m not going to drop my hip by any means, but this app caters to the same people that UberEats McDonalds and Chipotle or maybe anyone that thinks InstaCart is a good idea. This app is pigeonholed and it’s disappointing and not for me.
Costco IS NOT Sam’s Club!!!!

First of all, this app IS NOT Sam’s Club. There is no scan and go feature, which I understand because not allowing this feature minimizes the risk of theft - and forces you to interact with associates at the store. Also helps keep jobs intact, which is something this app as a company cares about a lot. I this app more simply because of their employee treatment. They wouldn’t even have self checkout if it wasn’t just a consumer demand. Yes, the app needs a lot of updates, but the true reason for the app is to have your hip card on hand at all times IN CASE you forget your card. Not to replace your card completely. Complaining about not being able to use it at the gas pump? Perfect solution - leave your card in your glove box and use the app in the store. Have issues setting it up? Go to the hip desk and ask for help. The app is easy to use, but does have a lot of glitches when setting up; however, if you have the patience to get help, you can get it done!
Will not send a reset email

So, I heard this app now (finally) allows you to add your hip card to your app. Great! I ed the app, tried to connect my to it, was told my email and don’t match. Hmm, that’s odd, but fine, “send a reset email.” “Didn’t receive a reset link? Send another link.” “Didn’t receive a reset link? Send another link.” “Didn’t receive a reset link? Send another link.” I ended up deleting the whole app, because I realized that even if I somehow managed to attach my hip card to the app, I would still have to go through the checkout line! Honestly, what is the point of that- merely saving me from carrying a single card? By comparison, I attached my hip card and payment options to my Sam’s Club app, and can either order stuff online to have delivered to my home, or go to my local club and “Scan & Go”- use my smart phone camera to scan the items I want as I put them in my cart, then pay from my phone when I’m done. No check out line at all! Come on, this app. Get with the times.
